The smallest structure in our collection is purposefully designed for the smallest of our avian neighbors—the hummingbird. Drawing inspiration from the work of American architect Steven Holl, this design embraces contextual sensitivity and poetic integration with its environment. As Holl aptly states, “Architecture does not so much intrude on the landscape as it serves to explain it.”

In that spirit, the hummingbird nest seeks to dissolve into its surroundings, whether nestled among branches or affixed to the vertical face of a tree or building. Its central element—the “Nest Pad”—is designed to sit discreetly within a pocket for horizontal installation, mimicking the profile of a leaf. Alternatively, it can be paired with the larger “Leaf” component for vertical mounting. A small integrated slot within the “Leaf” holds nesting material, such as cotton, offering both utility and a tactile invitation to its delicate inhabitants. This design is as much about presence as it is about restraint—a quiet gesture in service of place and purpose.

What’s In Your Delivered Package: The birdhouse will be delivered as a kit consisting of two components, the “LEAF” which is the larger part and the “NEST PAD” which serves as the nesting area (instructions included).
