Chirp No. 12 - KAHN
Chirp No. 12 - KAHN
Estonian born American architect Louie Kahn is considered one of the most influential architects of the 20th century. His monumental architecture was often heavy and monolithic, yet quite poetic. Simple volumes constructed of brick or concrete were carved with varying shapes and forms which interplayed with natural light.
A simple interior cube housing the nest is encased in a secondary outer cube which provides added protection from the sun and the elements. The outer cube has circular shapes carved out of three sides in the style of Kahn, to reveal the inner cube which reveals the entrance hole to the nest, as well as the Chirp Birdhouse logo and the number 12. Gaps between the sides of the inner cube allow for ventilation.
